Description

Quatuor: four steel pedestals for heavy pieces

Four nesting pedestals from 85 to 100 cm, engineered to take bronzes, stone and large-format sculpture without stability ever becoming a question.

A pedestal under load almost never breaks: it deflects, very slightly, and the work takes on a lean that nobody notices until it is too late. The Quatuor is built against that scenario. The steel structure is rigid, the footprint is wide, and the 50 kg safe working load per pedestal reflects real use rather than a theoretical limit.

The spread between the smallest and largest unit — fifteen centimetres in height, twelve in section — gives more compositional range than the Tertio while keeping full nesting. It is the set chosen by galleries that install and strike often.

  • Four heights: 85, 90, 95 and 100 cm
  • Rigid steel structure, engineered to resist deflection under load
  • Safe working load of 50 kg per pedestal; heavier duty available to order
  • Full nesting for store-room storage and transport to fairs
  • Visually neutral: plain lines, smooth finish, no stray reflections
  • Made in France from materials selected for intensive use

Who this model is for

Collectors and private buyers

For an established collection, bronzes in particular, where the weight rules out timber or MDF supports. Four pedestals let you treat a whole room rather than a corner of it.

Artists and sculptors

The set for artists who tour. Nested, the four load into a van single-handed; on site, installation takes minutes and needs no tools.

Museums, galleries and art centres

Built for intensive use: repeated handling, successive installs and strikes, storage between hangs. Structural rigidity is the deciding criterion here.

Councils and public institutions

For public bodies hosting exhibitions repeatedly in the same space, the Quatuor provides a reusable base that lasts for years, with no consumables and no upkeep. Quotations on request.

Installing a heavy sculpture

Before installing, check the floor rather than the pedestal. On an old timber floor or uneven tiling it is the support that has to absorb the fault, and a perfectly rigid pedestal on a floor that is not passes the defect straight to the work. A discreet shim under one corner settles the question.

Centre the piece on the top plate: an off-axis sculpture shifts the centre of gravity towards one edge and cuts your safety margin, even well below the maximum load. Our article on the base of a statue covers these points in more detail.

Frequently asked questions

Are these pedestals suitable for very heavy sculpture?

They are rated at 50 kg per pedestal, which covers the large majority of medium to large bronzes. Beyond that we build reinforced pedestals to order, after assessing the weight and the footprint of the piece.

Can I use only one or two pedestals from the set?

Yes. Each pedestal is self-contained and finished on all four sides. Nesting is a storage advantage, never a constraint in use.

How does this differ from the Penta set?

The Penta adds a fifth pedestal at 80 cm and so starts lower. The Quatuor concentrates on the taller heights, better suited to substantial pieces.

Can the pedestal be fixed to the floor?

Not as standard, but we can look at a fixing plate for venues open to the public. Contact us with details of the floor type.

Four steel pedestals, sized for the long term

The Quatuor gathers four metal sculpture pedestals with reinforced sections. Under a bronze or a stone left in place for months, steel does not creep: a support that never deforms is a support you never replace.

Reinforced as they are, the four pedestals still nest and travel in the space of one, which counts when a room has to be fitted out in a single morning of installation. Steel remains endlessly recyclable. Not sure this set matches your piece? Read our guide on choosing a pedestal for a heavy sculpture.

Ordering & Delivery

MANUFACTURING TIMES

Four nesting pedestals from 85 to 100 cm, sized to carry bronzes, stone and large-format sculpture. French manufacture, a standard model held in stock.

For a different configuration — specific heights, a particular finish, a format outside the range — we also build customised pedestals, with a manufacturing time of 4 to 6 weeks depending on the complexity of the project.

DELIVERY

The 22 kg of the set come from the reinforced sections that give the Quatuor its stability. The four pedestals nest for transport, which markedly reduces the shipped volume.

Shipping is handled by DPD, within 3 to 5 working days of dispatch. Express delivery via Chronopost remains available on request, for a private view or an exhibition with a fixed date.
